In her role, Alfano is responsible for sustaining a strong corporate image for the company through positive media coverage worldwide, all while promoting more than 100+ events in nearly a dozen countries. She also spearheads the announcements of global partnerships, broadcast deals, marketing campaigns, celebrity activations and more.

From developing and executing both the global communications and executive visibility strategies to leading on crisis communications situations and serving as the spokesperson for the company, Alfano finds ways to create positive news and ensure the brand is relevant.

Before joining Tough Mudder, Alfano spent seven years working at the NFL, three at the National Football League in its public relations department.

Elevating league initiatives, such as Breast Cancer Awareness and Salute to Service, and developing the public relations strategy to publicizing league events, such as Super Bowl and the NFL Draft, were key duties while at the League. Alfano also managed Super Bowl press conferences, media workrooms, credentials and interviews at league events. With a focus on events, consumer products, community relations, marketing and sponsorship, Alfano found ways to showcase the organization, executives and internal businesses in the media.

Before joining the League, Alfano previously served in the Redskins communications department from 2011-2013, and served as Washington’s PR Season Intern in 2010.

At the Redskins, Alfano severed in the corporate communications role. Her job was to garner publicity for the team beyond the traditional scope of football. She promoted all of the Redskins’ community relations and marketing events, in addition to publicizing player, coaches and ownership initiatives off the field. She also oversaw credentialing, press box staff supervision and event media coverage recaps.

Prior to joining the Redskins, Alfano spent two summers interning for both the Washington Capitals and the Washington Kastles. She worked for three years in the University of Georgia’s sports communication department and served as Brotman-Winter-Fried Communications’ public relations intern.

Alfano graduated from Georgetown University with a master’s degree in Sports Industry Management (2011) and received undergraduate degrees in both public relations and political science from the University of Georgia (2010).

Alfano currently resides in Long Island, New York with her husband Michael.
